John has spent most of his career in the middle market private equity field. Prior to joining Milestone as a Partner in 2002, John was a Managing Director of Internet Capital Group where he developed and executed a strategy for building a portfolio of investments in the financial services area and later co-founded Spyglass Partners, a small startup private equity investment firm. He was also previously a Managing Director and the head of the Philadelphia office of Mellon Ventures where he focused on sourcing and executing middle market leveraged buyouts and was Vice President of Corporate Development for RAF Industries, focusing on acquiring middle market manufacturing companies. John was also both a corporate lawyer for Reed Smith Shaw & McClay in Philadelphia and an investment banker for Morgan Stanley in New York.
John holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, where he now serves as a trustee, and a J.D. from Boston College Law School.
John currently serves on the board of Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania where he is also a member of the Athletics Board of Overseers, the Board of Overseers of the School of Veterinary Medicine and a member of the Policy Board for WXPN-FM. He is also a Trustee Emeritus of the Delbarton School.
John grew up in the New York area but has loved living in the Philly suburbs for the past 25 years (although he remains a die-hard NY sports fan). Outside of work, he tries to spend most of his time with his wife and two grown daughters, but when they need a break from “Mr. Energy” they send him off to golf, fly fish or ski.
