
Experience
Paul Slaats has over three decades of technology operating and investing experience, having served in founder, senior executive, and director roles in technology businesses across SaaS software, cloud-based managed services, data analytics, machine learning and AI, mobile and social media applications, digital marketing, and e-commerce.
In addition to his founder and operating experience, from 1996 through 2010, Paul was a Managing Director at Internet Capital Group, sourcing and leading platform investments and buildouts of internet-based businesses. Paul’s prior industry experience includes leadership positions in business development at SAP and product development, marketing, and sales management with IBM.
Paul is also a co-founder and board executive of two business incubator and accelerator platforms focused on cloud-based software development, DevOps advisory services, and blockchain applications utilizing smart contracts and digital asset securitization business models.
His broad and cross-functional leadership experience and deep technical acumen make him uniquely capable in building and supporting portfolio management teams to prioritize, align, and drive strategies for growth, market expansion, unit economics optimization, and rapid product and business model innovation.
Paul believes that integrated, lean-principled, and data-driven approaches to rapid customer-driven platform innovation, agile go-to-market strategies, and world-class leadership teams are the keys to optimizing capital efficiency, embracing new technologies, and building a winning and continuous improvement culture that can transform any business.
Education
Paul earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Purdue University and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago.
Personal
Paul is a Midwestern native who met his wife waiting for a parking bus at O’Hare. He is active in many sports, loves live music, and is a proud parent of two sons and a daughter, all engineers and product managers in enterprise software, AI, and data science.
